 Yes, I noted that problem in comment 9 and doing the split in
 configuration is cleaner but more than I am willing to take on with a
 entirely unfamiliar codebase.  I am a happy user of Pidgin and I was just
 trying motivated to prod at this issue a bit.  Happy to see some progress.
