 Application: Pidgin 2.10.7 with default options set from installer.
 OS: Windows XP SP3, English.

 Pasting a combination of Arabic characters into any pidgin textbox will
 cause the application to crash. I haven't extensively tested it but here
 are the steps to reproduce:

 Open "Character Map" in Windows (%SystemRoot%\system32\charmap.exe),
 navigate to "U+06ED: Arabic Small Low Meem" and click "Select" (so it
 copies the character to the text box in Character Map). Next,
 navigate to "U+06DE: Arabic Start Of Rub El Hizb" and click "Select" (so
 now the two characters are copied into the text box within Character Map).
 Now place your mouse pointer somewhere near the middle/end of of the
 textbox and double click (to highlight the characters). Now press CTRL+C
 to copy
 the selection to the clipboard.

 Now in pidgin, open up any form that has a textbox and press CTRL+V (to
 paste the buffer) in my scenario, I used the "Add Buddy" form but it also
 got it work in a chatroom window.

 Pidgin will immediately crash with the following:

 Runtime Error!

 Program: C:\Program Files\Pidgin\pidgin.exe

 The application has requested the Runtime to terminate it in an unusual
 way.
