 > Problem :
 > Pidgin doesn't support the INPUT of some characters that are inserted to
 it by the Greek Layout.
 > The two major problems are these :
 > 1) There is a mark in Greek that is used to be combined with these two
 letters : ι and υ, the mark is this : ΅ > ΐ ΰ. To achieve that in any
other text field, you press SHIFT + W in the Greek Layout. I have checked
that if you copy these two characters from an another source and you paste
them in Pidgin text box, it supports it, so the input is to blame. These
are rarely used and have no capital form.
 > 2) There is no way to input the Euro sign (€), the classic way that
works everywhere in the Greek Keyboard Layout (versions AFTER 2002), the
input by CTRL+ALT+E. This is a little bit more serious, as both Greek
speaking countries, Greece and Cyprus use the Euro as their currency.
 > Also, in the Greek Layout there are other symbols that use the
CTRL+ALT+something combination, such as ® or ½, but no one uses those,
only the Euro sign is important.
 > The only application these problems occur is Pidgin, no other program
 has issues.
 > Similar problems occur when I try to use the Polytonic Greek Windows
Keyboard Layout, but this is not a real problem, as almost no one uses
this, I just mention it, in case it helps to detect the problem.
 > Notice that the SHIFT+W and the plain W are not related in the Greek
Keyboard Layout, the plain W is for the regular character ς.
 > Is there any way to fix these? I mean, why Pidgin doesn't let Windows do
the job, like the other applications do?

 >>>>4 Months later<<<<
I found the solution - there is no problem at all. The issue is that
Pidgin follows the Unix - Linux Greek keyboard, even when running in
Windows. This means that when following the Linux system you may write ΐ
 and ΰ as well. The trick goes : SHIFT + : , then : , then ι or υ. (Other
Windows application do not use this.)
