 I don't know how to install the symbols for gtk and gdk on Ubuntu. I tried
 installing these, but it didn't make a difference in the backtrace.

 libgtk-3-0-dbg
 libgdk-pixbuf2.0-0-dbg

 If you tell me how to install these symbols on Ubuntu, I'm happy to give a
 more detailed backtrace.

 I have re-created my purple profile (deleting my old ~/.purple folder) and
 it is stable now. This suggests it is a problem in pidgin/purple, but I
 have no idea what in my profile could have caused it, since I didn't make
 any recent changes to it that I'm aware of.

 Anyway, I've moved past this issue now so I guess feel free to delete this
 ticket. There is some way for the profile to crash the app, but I don't
 know how to narrow it down for you.
