 all smileys above a certain point will be rendered graphically, while all
 smileys below that point are rendered as text. there doesn't appear to be
 any difference in the HTML log itself. is this intended behavior? does the
 log viewer only render the first n smileys? or only render smileys in the
 first n bytes?
