 I would be curious to see the traffic from one of those clients handling
 this. Swift is one of the ones that I looked at last night and it doesn't
 handle the case the way I was looking at (which isn't to say that it
 doesn't handle it some other way). I expect that those clients query the
 room for features before attempting to join it. Which is something that
 pidgin could (and probably should) do but historically has not done.
 Handling it after the join fails is the more difficult prospect I was
 discussing before.
