Comment:

 I believe I fixed this in revision b8e2a5fbffd3.

 I basically did what xnyhps suggested in comment 19 (though I reached that
 conclusion on my own without having read this ticket, so that's good that
 we basically came to the same conclusion).

 I'll give people some time to test the fix and we'll hopefully release
 Pidgin 2.10.9 within the next 4 days.
