 I'd personally be very nervous about putting all our eggs in one basket,
 security-wise.  As we've found with the gnutls/yahoo issue, we'd have no
 workaround if there was a fault or security issue in a particular library.
 Also, using the system/UI's own SSL libs should help reduce the number of
 external dependencies needed.
