 I wrote a plugin showing participant's status icon in chat room.

   https://github.com/tmatz/pidgin-xmpp-muc-presence-plugin

 - for XMPP protocol.
 - This plugin replaces icons looks like (((-))) with status icons.
 - Showing status icons or original can be toggled by menu.
