 Ok, so the update check
 [[http://bazaar.launchpad.net/~renatosilva/pidgin++/trunk/revision/152|is
 now optional]]. A new preference has been added to the network tab with a
 warning about the proxy bypass. When the user clicks the update menu in
 buddy list and the option is disabled (default), it will also warn about
 the bypass before proceeding. Note that this is not a concern if the
 application is not using a proxy.

 This is not to say that !WinSparkle doesn't need improvements. Besides
 connection customization, it also lacks translation support and builds
 only with Visual Studio, for example. However it is still promising and
 will hopefully get improved by the open source community.
