New description:

 Pidgin no longer displays when I receive a new email messages for Yahoo
 and MSN, despite being ticked in the options. There was a point where it
 did log new emails, but it didn't clear that I read them, so it would
 eventually pile up to the point of me allegedly having 1,000s of new
 emails. This has since stopped.

 I also do not receive offline messages in Yahoo, which is my higher
 priority problem. I've signed into my Yahoo account in multiple locations
 and forced a sign out to ensure that they simply weren't being sent to
 another device. After testing, it still does not allow me to receive
 offline messages.

 I also always appear offline to my MSN contacts, though that's more minor
 and I'm only mentioning that one in case there may be a correlation. I've
 since uninstalled pidgin, gave it a fresh install, disabled all plugins,
 and made sure that it was up to date. And it still does not work. What do
