 This is a fresh installation of Pidgin on a Windows 8.1 system.

 After installation and configuration of a service, I can see that the
 buddy list window is running in the taskbar, however it never appears on
 the screen.  It otherwise appears to be functioning properly.  Makes it a
 little difficult to initiate a conversation to say the least.
