 I have been using pidgin for a long time across a dozen or more versions
 and all versions have suffered from this issue.  Basically, I start Pidgin
 and leave the buddy list window open on my Windows desktop.  After some
 time and without any user interaction, the buddy list window expands to
 the full height of the screen, as if it were "docking" itself to one side
 of the Windows display, effectively shrinking the size of the available
 display.  For example, the desktop icons on the left-hand side are all
 relocated a few inches to the right.  Exiting Pidgin causes the screen
 area to be unlocked and the icons to be relocated to their original
 positions aligned to the left edge of the screen.
