 In what server does this fail?

 The [[https://tools.ietf.org/html/rfc4616|SASL PLAIN RFC]] says authzid
 (first part) is optional and may be derived from authcid (second part),
 where by "derived" it usually means "using the same thing". A compliant
 server implementation should handle both examples the same way.
