In Windows 7, a user can disable "Aero Snap" by opening the Control Panel
pane "Control Panel -> Ease of Access -> Ease of Access Center -> Make the
mouse easier to use", and checking the box for "Prevent windows from being
automatically arranged when moved to the edge of the screen".
Checking this setting disables the "Aero Snap" feature for all windows.
... Except for Pidgin. Pidgin does not honor this setting -- It continues
to automatically snap onto the side of the desktop, at full height,
whenever you move it to the edge of the screen, even if you've turned off
this feature of windows.
This is problematic for users who access their Windows desktop remotely--
particularly if such remote access triggers desktop resizing because of
different display resolutions at the remote access points. This behavior
also interferes with moving the window across boundaries between monitors
in a multi-monitor setup.
