 FWIW, I use plasma and I am interested on this change. I would LOVE to
 have desktop integration (at least gnome, unity and KDE, obviously the
 more, the better) on 3.0.

 Unfortunately, I don't have that much time and I have to prioritize what
 to actually do, and I think stabilizing 3.0 will have higher priority.

 If someone can bring a nice patch, be sure I will take a look fast.
