 Bump, W7 and Pidgin 2.10.11 and it's still happening. I've also been using
 Pidgin on SteamOS/Debian, but I don't remember if it has the bug.

 Some notes:\\
 1) The tab that gains focus is very random, but is rarely - if ever - the
 newly opened tab.\\
 2) It always happens when I am actively typing, but only sometimes happens
 if I'm not. It might have something to do with having the window currently
 active.\\
 3) I do not have the Message Notification plugin enabled.
