Comment:

 If you have your conversations on a single window, you can do Ctrl+Tab to
 go to the next conversation with unread messages.

 If you have your conversations in different windows, I think what you want
 is a Window Manager feature.

 A Pidgin plugin *can* do something to support some global hotkeys for some
 of the window managers but it is impossible to cover all of them.

 Have you tried the suggested plugin?
