New description:

I'm using Pidgin with my AIM account, I'm not using any of the plugins.
When I change font in preferences, only the font type changes. If I try to
change the font size, it will not change in the area I type, but will be
the correct size when I hit enter.

But because of this, as I type the bar above with the Font and Smily
options (this still happens if I remove the bar altogether) will judder up
and down constantly and makes it annoying to type.

The flashing vertical line that shows where you're typing is accurate to
the size of the fontsize I have put in preferences, but the text is not, I
assume that's why this is happening.

I'm running this on Windows 7, 64 bit.
