 Sorry to unearth this, but would it be a good time now to look into the
 usage of transports since AIM is going to kick the bucket in about 20
 days?

 MSN is long dead, YIM is beyond borked (Pidgin crashes constantly when the
 Yahoo++/2016 protocol is used/idling at length), and now AIM will render
 itself further obsolete by killing this versatile option.
