#17207: SSL Handshake Failed
--------------------------+---------------------------
Reporter: cybercrypt13 | Owner:
Type: defect | Status: new
Milestone: 2.12.1 | Component: pidgin (gtk)
Version: 2.12.0 | Keywords: SSL Handshake
--------------------------+---------------------------
We have pidgin running on a number of different computers, both linux and
windows 10. 2 days ago about 3pm eastern time they all stopped working
with the above error message being displayed.
We installed other chat apps and currently I've tested 5 of them on my
Ubuntu 17 box. They all connect and work perfectly, but I like Pidgin
much better and want to get it working again.
So... I removed the .purple folder which is supposed to contain all of the
information on my account. I then use apt-get to remove pidgin from my
computer.
I confirm it is gone, then reinstall it through apt-get.
When I open the newly installed app it immediately opens with same error
and has ALL of my account information already filled out. Where is it
storing this information other than the .purple folder?
Nothing I have attempted to do has fixed the issue and while all other
chat apps are working perfectly, pidgin still refuses to connect to our
server.
thanks,
Glenn
