 Hello,

 Please reference adding the pidgen repo: `sudo apt-add-repository ppa
 :pidgin-developers/ppa` then running `sudo apt-get update` to update to
 the latest version.

 Rationale:
 Merely running `sudo apt-get install pidgin` in Ubuntu results in old
 versions. The "official" ppa is mentioned nowhere on the pidgin website.
 Have to view external sources which are less trustworthy than the
 developers.
