Would it be possible to build an automatic mark-as-read option into
 pidgin?

I'm using purple-facebook, which tells facebook when you've read (clicked)
a message. This can be disabled, but there is no way to disable it on
Facebook's apps. I'd like to make sure no-one can tell when I've read a
message by making pidgin mark all messages as read immediately.

In addition to that use case, it would also prevent an issue when multiple
devices are connected to the same account, and duplicate messages come in
very rapidly. This could apply to any chat protocol that supports mark-as-
 read.

And it seems like the kind of thing that would be simple code-wise and not
 break anyone's flow :)

Here's a link to another suggestion I've made for a specific type of auto-
 reply: https://developer.pidgin.im/ticket/17299
