#17360: Sending a message when connection is dropped causes the message to be lost

 How to reproduce:

 1) start writing a message

 2) kill your uplink

 3) Hit enter, the message is gone from the input box but not shown on the
 chat log (which makes sense since it was not sent)

 4) When the connection is restored, the message is not.

 Preferably the client should not allow me to sent the message when I am
 not connected to the Internet.
