Comment:

 Unfortunately, we'll need the debug from just before it happens to have
 any chance of working out what might be causing it.

 The other option would be to get a copy of gdb, and attach it to pidgin
 when it happens, and then try to debug it that way, but that would need an
 advanced knowledge of gdb to be able to do that.
