 I am experiencing the same problem after having upgraded Debian 9 to 10
 (GNOME 3.22 to 3.30).

 * Pidgin is configured with a single XMPP account.

 * The XMPP account is very quiet: no incoming messages, no status changes,
 no buddies logging on/off.

 * Whenever the screen is locked, GNOME displays a '"Buddy List" is ready'
 notification.

 * I am also using the Top Icons GNOME Extension, and the Buddy List is
 always open whenever I unlock, even though I like to keep it
 hidden/minimized.

 Hey rtt, what is this extension that hides "window is ready"
 notifications?
