 If you could leave the debug log open (from the buddy list, Help->Debug
 Window) and then when you next get the certificate accept/reject popup,
 pause the output of the debug window and paste here the last few lines (it
 should say something about missing intermediate certificates, or something
 like that) then we can look into it more

 Alternatively, you can try the Hangouts plugin from
 [[ThirdPartyPlugins#AdditionalProtocols]]
