 You're getting disconnected from the Google XMPP server frequently (most
 likely from an unstable internet connection to the Google servers) which
 is why everyone is appearing to sign-on all the time as you reconnect.
 Reconnecting to the server will start a new SSL connection which will
 verify certificates, which is why you're seeing info about certificates in
 the debug log.

 If you're going to switch to the Hangouts plugin, you'll need to add a new
 account in Pidgin and pick 'Hangouts' from the Protocol dropdown list.
