Comment:

 If you want to create something similar to the "Pinned Conversations"
 option, you can create a Buddy Pounce in Pidgin.

 1. In the conversation you want to 'pin' go to Conversation->Add Buddy
 Pounce...
 2. Add pounces for when "Signs on"
 3. Tick the 'Recurring' option at the bottom
 4. Click the 'Add' button

 Then whenever the buddy signs on (or when you connect to the account)
 you'll get a conversation window opening with that person.
