Not a dumb question at all. I would suggest not creating a logo for 
libpurple. Maybe it could piggy-back on the Pidgin logo. If that's not 
ideal (maybe it would discourage small-minded people from using it in 
their "competing" IM client...?), I'm sure we could come up a nice 
little "powered by libpurple" banner that doesn't have a logo.
