It could show whenever there is no text in the input field (aggressive), 
or just once when a new conversation is created (conservative).  I'm not 
sure which would be better, or if some people would find the aggressive 
method potentially annoying.  This probably needs to be discussed and 
maybe different implementations tested.  :)

attached.

Changed the text suggestion from "Type your message here..." to "Start 
typing your message and press Enter to send." as any typing is caught by 
the input field; it doesn't require focus.
