Building NullClient

Hello,
I am trying to build the nullclient which is present in the libpurple
directory. But I am not able to do it.
I have tried writing a configure.in file and using AutoConf and Automake
tools. But did not have any luck.

Can you please provide me some information, or some document where I would
get information about building the client.
