contact list merging and metacontacts in Pidgin

We used to have a more general version of this (in fact, the same
screen name on *any* protocol would be automatically merged), and
people didn't like it very much.  It turns out that a lot of people
want to keep rather strict separation between, e.g., work and home
accounts.  That is, they may want to merge within *sets* of accounts,
but not between all accounts.

Which isn't to say that supporting this is a bad idea, just that it
may require some extra care and flexibility to be useful to most
people.
