No, because none of the *vast multitudes* of people who want this
'feature' back have bothered to write it. Feel free to if you want it. We
won't be.

It means pidgin doesn't have any information about the status of that
person, which generally means that they aren't on your buddy list. When
unable to show you a status icon pidgin falls back to the only icon it can
show you which is one that represents the protocol.
