True, but Andy's mentor doesn't have commit access to Pidgin, hence
the appeal upstream.

Because it's, presumingly, a pain for them to do so, as they try to
use released versions of libpurple.exclusively.
Because I don't know if it's merge-ready. I know others have been
watching his commits as they go in to the branch, probably more than I
have, and wanted a consensus.
As his branch introduces new UI and new strings, I think the consensus
is that we should probably hold off on it, which Andreas has agreed is
a good solution.
