pidgin should be able to handle as many accounts as you have the ram to
handle, there shouldn't be anything in pidgin that creates an upper bound
itself, obviously in the places where pidgin uses GLists and the like to
store things the more data you put in them the longer it takes to search
them, so using hundreds or thousands of accounts is certainly likely to
make many things slow but it should all work.
