As these are not diffs, what did you use as the base for this
development? A released version? A given revision from SVN or MTN?

I have nothing to do with the SILC stuff, but perhaps it'd be better to
do this as small separate changes rather than as a big patch? That would
make it easier to review. Now that we are using Monotone, this stuff
could be done on a branch very easily.
