a new plugin for save the recent buddys

hi,everyone.
i have use the gaim (now is pidgin) for a long time.
my count has more then three hundred buddys now.
but the problem is i cann't find the buddy quickly whom just send me some
message just now.
so i want to develop a plugin for save the recent buddys in a new group.
i'm a c programer, can anyone tell me how to develop a plugin for pidgin?
