Updated Perl docs for Pidgin?

Forgive my ignorance, but I don't see any info on how to use gaim/pidgin
with Windows, can you please provide a link?
My main goal in using this is to do automated testing of a network firewall
and think this would be a good method of sending / receiving IMs. Thanks in
