I obviously can't speak for the developers, but my guess is this won't 
get accepted into libpurple directly. I think a better approach would be 
to create necessary hooks in libpurple so that this could be implemented 
as a plugin. I would like to see this happen, so I'd be willing to help 
if you need it.
