scrolled msgs greyed-out

inconvenience.]

[Pidgin 2.2.0 on WinXP+SP2]

Since installing v2.2.0, in the pane "the conversation so far" pane,
the text of the messages others have sent look fine,
and the time stamps of messages I have sent look fine,
but the *text* of messages I have sent is greyed-out,
making it hard to read.

I've looked through the FAQ, looked at various plugins, read up on GTK,
and it's getting way too involved and I still haven't found an answer.

Is there a simple way to fix it so that the text of my messages
come out "full strength"?
