My thought was that we don't want to merge in tablet support when none
of us have tablets. From what I can see, Gabriel is doing an excellent
job maintaining this as a separate project. Our use of a DVCS makes it
fairly easy to merge changes between upstream Pidgin and the tablet port
of Pidgin, so I don't see huge advantages to merging. And given that
significant changes have been made for the tablet (like all the request
UI hinting, for example), I think it's useful that Gabriel can bend the
compatibility and versioning rules right now.
