Leslie Hawthorn and the Google Summer of Code program administrators have
extended the deadline for student applications one week, to Monday, April 7,
2008.  There are some possible project ideas at
http://developer.pidgin.im/wiki/FutureSOCProjects, but please feel free to
come up with your own hair-brained schemes!  You've still got time!

If you've already submitted your application, why not start working now?  You
can still contribute to Pidgin even if you are not accepted into the program.
 Grab the Pidgin source code from Monotone (see
http://developer.pidgin.im/wiki/UsingPidginMonotone) and start screwing around
with stuff.  Seriously, get your hands dirty.
