pidgin.im very slow

Thought this may be of interest.  We run a read-only mirror on
guifications.org of im.pidgin.*.

guifications.org is a dedicated box at http://steadfast.net (where Kevin
works).  It's an 1.8ghz Athlon 64 (running debian 32bit) with a gig of ra=
m.

These were both run right after each other, neither machine under much,
if any load.
