Libpurple disconnecting issue

I think your use of the word "shouldn't" may be non-colloquial.  :-P

What is the main loop for this PurpleApi thread class?  How are you
multiplexing Qt signals and socket events?  Are you certain that there
are *precisely* two threads in your application, and that libpurple is
handled by only *one* of them?
