cleaning up buddy list menu

I've submitted a possibly controversial patch to clean up the buddy list
menus.
The gist of the problem is that a lot of users run with narrow (<150px wide)
buddy lists, and Pidgin's menus are wider than that.  See patch description
for a possible fix to this.
