Since nothing further has been discussed on this lately, I'd like to suggest
that what we do is rename the current HTTP proxy option to "HTTP Only" that
doesn't affect HTTPS connections and add an "HTTP and HTTPS" option to support
those proxies that work for both HTTP and HTTPS.  (I'm assuming I haven't
misunderstood how our proxy stuff works.)
