This isn't a Pidgin plugin, but perhaps a way of doing what you want.
There is a service called IMified[1] which lets you do things like
post to blogs and look things up via IM bots, and I think they might
have a system for reading RSS feeds. I haven't used it in a while so I
can't say for certain, and it seems like their website is currently a
bit confusing right now, it seems like they were acquired by another
company, but that should be able to do what you want considering this
news post[2] from a while ago.
