Indeed.
There are actually many sites hosting git repositories so if somebody
doesn't like SF's hosting he can just clone the whole repo in another
site.
For example, the linux kernel is mirrored in github:
http://github.com/github/linux-2.6
If for some strange reason the original repo hosting stops working,
that's not an issue at all since it's mirrored everywhere.
That's how distributed SCM is supposed to work. Linus' repo in
git.kernel.org is just one among many.
