What khc was trying to tell you is that if you were to actually look at
the error you are getting (and the fact that gdb has apparently repeatedly
told you that pidgin is not crashing) you would notice that your problem
seems to be that your display is not being set correctly as far as GTK+ is
concerned so pidgin is quitting (and not crashing).
